INTRODUCTION
"Hanashimashou - Let's talk Japanese together" is an annual program aimed at fostering conversation, cultural exchange, and learning of the Japanese language. It is organized by FJC in collaboration with the Japanese language department of the University of Foreign Trade. In 2022, under the theme "昔々 - Mukashi Makashi" (Once upon a time), the program focused on Japanese fairy tales. These stories often originate from amusing everyday anecdotes passed down through generations and are transformed into magical and fantastical imagery to instill belief and convey meaningful lessons.
For the idea of designing this poster, I chose the main representative character from a highly renowned Japanese fairy tale, Princess Kaguya, also known as the "Bamboo Princess." She is depicted wearing a modern kimono and adorned with a "Happi" jacket, symbolizing FJC, while actively inviting everyone with the words "Let's talk." Behind her, there are elements associated with Japanese folklore, such as bamboo, cats, and fox masks. The predominant colors consist of complementary red and green, delicately balanced to evoke a sense of enchantment and magical wonder.
